Expose GitLab Pages in merge requests somewhere more obvious than job logs

Created on 1 April 2025, 5 days ago

Problem/Motivation

When a merge request is created, MkDocs builds and creates a GitLab Pages deployment for the merge request. However, the URL for this deployment is only found in the job logs, so it is not very accessible.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a merge request for this project.
  2. Find the URL at the end of the preview-pages job.

Proposed resolution

Expose the Pages deployment on the merge request UI.

It looks like environments won't work - they seem to be blocked on the Drupal GitLab instance. For example, the environments overview page for the forked repository 404s. Linking directly to the environment (shown at the top of the preview-pages job) 404s, too.

    What about this?

    https://git.drupalcode.org/project/member/-/merge_requests/7

It has the "View exposed artifact" button on the merge request.
