I added a “community events” category for drupalorg module issues to help track issues that will be landing in drupalorg module code. Please do make sure issues are moved to drupalorg module for visibility and implementation planning.
Since we are in progress moving to new.drupal.org on modern Drupal, some things should wait for the event content type to move over. Getting the theming of event nodes implemented with the theme for new.drupal.org is something we might want help with, too.
