Event organizers often ask attendees to signup for an event so they can send them reminders, zoom links, and other information. While larger events like camps and cons typically have their own websites with registration systems, smaller events like local meetups do not. It would be very helpful if there were a way to collect simple signup information through the community event post. This is a feature that was available in g.d.o and is still useful to some group organizers.
Visit https://www.drupal.org/community/events β and create a community event (under Add content). If you want to collect signups, you must link elsewhere (and go through the effort of setting up a form or registration site, which can be cumbersome if you have a lot of meetups or small events).
Add an option to enable signups. If signups are enabled, collect name and email address of attendees and allow event organizers to send email notifications to those people. Or track their d.o profile and send emails to their contact address.
