Offering to co-maintain Toolbar Menu

Created on 12 March 2025, 21 days ago

Hi Vincent (@vpeltot),

Thanks a lot for the great work and for contributing this nice module.
We're currently using it on several projects and find it very useful.

I have been brought to look closer at the module since we have been working on upgrading our projects to D11.
Unfortunately, it seems the module is not yet compatible with Drupal 11 and is therefore blocking some of our site upgrades, see:
šŸ“Œ Automated Drupal 11 compatibility fixes for toolbar_menu Needs review

Down the road, I would have more suggested maintenance tasks, in particular configuring GitLab CI automated tests, broadening tests coverage to support multiple Core versions, enforcing validation of certain jobs, integration with Project Browser ā†’ and improving documentation on project page and README.MD (screenshots, etc...).

Since this is a module we're using in our company projects, I would have a particular interest in helping keeping it well maintained.
Therefore, I would like to offer my help and ask if you could perhaps consider adding me as a project maintainer.

For reference, I have been a maintainer on Drupal.org for over 10 years and maintained some pretty popular modules, such as Admin Toolbar ā†’ or Block Class ā†’ .

Could you please take a moment to consider whether I could be added as one of module's maintainers?

Feel free to contact me directly through the contact form, if you have any questions or concerns that you would like to discuss in private, I would definitely be glad to reply as soon as possible.

Otherwise, I would greatly appreciate if you could please follow-up in this issue with any comments, feedback or questions.
Thanks in advance!

Contacted module maintainer Vincent Peltot (vpeltot) ā†’ through its contact form on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 00:36.

Please let us know if you would need the message that was sent to the maintainer through the contact form.

    Thanks!

Two weeks with no answer from the maintainer:

Moving to the Drupal.org project ownership issue queue ā†’ , as per:
    https://www.drupal.org/docs/develop/managing-a-drupalorg-theme-module-or... ā†’

    See point 6:

    1. If maintainers do not reply in two weeks since the offer appeared in the project issue queue, move the issue to the Drupal.org project ownership ā†’ issue queue. Move the issue by changing the issue's Project field to Drupal.org project ownership. Please include a link to the project page.

Project moderators will normally try to contact maintainers as an extra safeguard unless it is evident that they are no longer active in the Drupal community, giving to the contacted maintainers two weeks to reply to the message that they have sent via the Contact tab.

Added at the top of the issue summary:
āœ… Project name and link to project page
āœ… Contact history (as per point 3).

Maintainer doesn't seem to have been active for quite some time, see:
    https://git.drupalcode.org/vince60

Module's current stable release dates back to 2023: Last updated: 6 Feb 2023 at 15:51 CET
    https://www.drupal.org/project/toolbar_menu/releases/3.0.0 ā†’

Issue queue has 34 open issues ā†’ with 6 RTBC ā†’ which are ready to go.

This is still blocking D11 upgrades for many of our projects, see: šŸ“Œ Automated Drupal 11 compatibility fixes for toolbar_menu Needs review .

    Please help!

We would greatly appreciate if someone with write access could help granting me access or ownership of the project, so I could update the GIT repository, change the default branch or add more potential members if needed.
Additionally, I would need write access in order to merge pending merge requests.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions or concerns on any aspects of this request or the project in general, I would be glad to provide more information and reply as soon a possible.
    Thanks in advance!

The project owner last logged in when he merged two MRs for this very project. Previous comments are in other issues for the same project, posted on 2020/2021.

I added dydave as maintainer. (Despite the title, dydave offered to be maintainer, not co-maintainer.)

Thanks a lot Alberto (@avpaderno) for your reactivity and moving forward this request so quickly, it's greatly appreciated!

I've started merging in pending changes and will most likely create a D11 compatible release this week.

Thanks again for the great help!
