Hi,
I've applied the MR!164 successfully for drupal core 10.3 and it is working as expected.Steps I followed for testing:
1. Install smart date module with Gin theme
2. Created event with date field
3. Go to date field with Keyboard focus and observe the changes thereTesting Result:
Here after applying the patch, able to see the Focus indicator isn't blocked by next input element and it looks as expected. Moving to RTBC+1Attaching screenshot for reference

I added a suggestion in the MR. If the main goal here is to make sure the focus indicator won't be blocked by a neighbour element, a gap half as wide should do the job.
