Error tooltip does not display when users is not on the tab that contains the error

Are you using the field_group module? If so we might want to move this to the module so they can look into fixing this.

Should we not display error or notice messages to the user when a required field is not completed? This should improve the UX in Gin because users will see a message if a required field is not filled in.

Hi, I noticed this happening in 8.x-3.* but when I tried reproducing it just now in 4.0.0 it did the right thing (F_G switched to the horizontal tab and showed the tooltip against the empty required field). Given that 🐛 Ensure visibility of invalid fields (JS) Fixed has been fixed and this bug was originally reported for version 8.x-3.4, perhaps this is no longer an issue?
