At the moment Drupal CMS uses a filename for the download archive (ZIP) that contains a fixed version number (cms-1.0.0.zip) . That way docs as well as tests have to be updated every time a new release comes out. DDEV for example added a quickstart guide how to install Drupal CMS as well as a bats test, checking if the quickstart test is still working.
