Default Klaro consent cookie lifetime is quite low

Created on 9 January 2025, 12 days ago

Problem/Motivation

The Drupal Klaro module currently sets the cookie expiry to 1 day by default.

This seems to be quite low. The user is bothered too often for redoing his choices, which increases the chance for people ignoring the details and either decline or accept all. It's difficult for me to find good resources for regulations around it. Here's a best practice document released by the German ministry for consumer protection.

The consumer may be asked to review the decision at the earliest after six months or in case there have been changes in the cookie policy that require consent to be renewed.

The Klaro JS library has a default of 365 days.
