After upgrading to the last smart date and core (10.3.10) i got this error:

Error: Call to a member function augmentOutput() on array in Drupal\smart_date\Plugin\Field\FieldFormatter\SmartDateFormatterBase->augmentOutput() (line 331 of modules/contrib/smart_date/src/SmartDatePluginTrait.php).
