Consider displaying the core and extensions update forms on one page

Created on 31 October 2024, 5 months ago

Problem/Motivation

Discussed with @phenaproxima that the current UX is a bit confusing, with two separate update pages, one for core and one for contrib. I created a couple of issues to try to clarify this, but the ideal solution would be to have the updates display on a single page, if possible.

Just creating an issue to capture this for discussion for now, not expecting anything to happen on it.

This would be a big win for Drupal CMS, the current Extend section is really confusing and merging these two pages would really help.

    This.

    Current navigation is:

    Nav menu > Extend

    • > Update (tab) shows /admin/modules/update
    • > Available updates (link) shows /admin/reports/updates

Nav menu > Reports > Available updates also shows /admin/reports/updates

I think this is unlikely to happen before the 1.0.0 release of Drupal CMS, but I agree that the current UX is poor so let's see if we can aim for the first minor release (v1.1.0) of Drupal CMS.
