The previous and next buttons are missing and or have the wrong styling on hover or click

Problem/Motivation

The previous and next buttons either have no style change on hover and click, or have changes to different colors than intended (buttons.mp4)
The previous button has no style change on hover or click, only a focus outline, while the next button has a too light shade of blue.
