reliable key management service and in business?

Created on 14 October 2024, 2 months ago

We are using Real AES in one of our projects and store the key outside of the web directory. However I would like to use a key management service instead. In the documentation you refer two providers
1: Townsend Security --> Company closed 1 year ago
2: Lockr --> Last Update of their website 4 years ago, last blog article 5 years ago

I did some search, but could not find anything related to drupal.
Therefore I wondered, if anybody else can recommend a key management service which is reliable and in business?
thanks!

On https://www.drupal.org/project/townsec_key β†’ I see a message about shutting down:

Townsend Security's Alliance Key Manager reached end-of-life on November 30, 2023, so this module is now deprecated and no longer supported.

I don't see evidence Lockr has shut down, though.

I agree if they are no longer serving customers we should remove them from the module.

I believe there are other providers of key services like AWS and GCP, though I'm not sure they are currently supported by a Drupal module.

Lockr now has a notice on the homepage:

Lockr will be suspending SaaS services effective November 30,2024. Owners of all active Lockr accounts have been contacted regarding the end of services and migrations options. Please contact support@lockr.io with any questions.

Since both providers are no longer in business, I will remove this information from the README, but we'll leave this issue open in case someone has a recomendation.
