Are the migration dependencies really needed?

Problem/Motivation

I wonder why I need to enable 2 (huge?) migration related modules to have some preset image styles on my site.. 🤔
Aren't they optional? Could I disable them after having set up my image styles? Can we overcome this by using the new recipes feature or maybe default_content?

PS: I've never used migration modules so I'm not sure what I'm talking about 😅😬😇

The 'Migrate and friends' dependencies are only needed for the generation process, you can uninstall after you have generated the Normalized Image Styles you require. There's a disclaimer on the project page:

It's considered a best practice to NOT have Migrate module installed on your production environment, and by extension Migrate Plus and Migrate Tools, too. All can safely be uninstalled after your chosen Normalized Image Styles have been imported (drush un image_style_generate migrate_plus migrate_tools migrate).
