Offering to maintain Chosen

These offers need to first be created on the project issue queue, even when the person asking for more permissions is already co-maintainer. As per Offering to become a project owner, maintainer, or co-maintainer → , they can be moved in the Drupal.org project ownership queue → , 14 days after the offer was posted/moved in the project queue, if the offer has not been declined from other maintainers (including the project owner).
Remember to provide a link for the project page, in that case.

Notice that to be able to change the default branch, you do not need to be project owner; you just need to be maintainer.

I got access to set the default branch now, so I close the issue then.
