Drupal LMS & OPIGNO

Forgot to add... as I maintain that LMS instance in a long run, I can dedicate some time also for contributing here

The plan is to make this project contain only core LMS functionalities creating a heart for an ecosystem of modules (for example more complex activity types), similar to Group module and all other related modules. For that reason we don't plan to include many other Opigno modules / functionalities here but add them as ecosystem projects eventually if needed.

Migration path is planned ( 📌 Migration from other LMS platforms Active - maybe that "other platforms" expression is a bit too broad indeed) and will also be included here, we'll need to do it on a couple of existing projects eventually. The plan is the first quarter of 2025, reality will verify.

OPIGNO is very bad maintained with no tests in d.o. I've contacted the owners to offer my collaboration as co-maintainer but they want to keep full control. They are losing precious free help from the community. Also, they told me, they run tests on their system (not public). I was in the point where I wanted to start my own fork, but miraculously I've discovered this project. However, while OPIGNO is more or less out-of-the-box, this is in a very raw phase. Also OPIGNO offered a theme which was very helpful to start with... No idea if there will be a theme or, at least, a base theme to be used with lms, so that anyone could very rapidly start their LMS with no pain.

I can contribute in 2 ways:

• Directly on this module, or other ecosystem modules
• Investigating my project's needs and creating new ecosystem modules, unless they are not functionality to be added directly here.

Should we create an #lms Slack channel for folks wanting to contribute?

We've been there as well. Let's just remember that Drupal LMS learned on Opigno and all that experience allows us to make it better. Everyone can get involved in the work here, including their team as this is and will be fully open source so let's not discourage anyone.
