How to use this theme?

How to use this theme?
I installed it, enabled all required modules, enabled the theme and everything appears to be 'unthemed'.

I see a lot of new options in the layout builder for instance, but independent of what I select there, it seems to have 0 effect.
Is there a site-builder friendly documentation of how to get to a nice looking website?
