Interesting. What checkbox are you talking about? It may be heavily payment gateway dependent, as there is no such checkbox in Commerce Core. What's the use case for creating a subscription in the first place if you're not actually expecting recurring payments?

I believe a sufficient solution was provided in 🐛 Don't set non-reusable payment method on Subscription in onPlace event. Fixed so currently, we're in the territory where this issue only exists if the payment method reusability status has changed since it was initially set to reusable. While this is a theoretical issue I am closing this as a duplicate. Please don't hesitate to open it again if some additional facts that were not accounted for.
