@munchmunch , I have fixed the issue and created Patch.
Upon installing and enabling the notification system modules I get the following error:
TypeError: Cannot assign null to property Drupal\notification_system_dispatch\Service\NotificationDispatcherService::$groupMappings of type array in Drupal\notification_system_dispatch\Service\NotificationDispatcherService->__construct() (line 76 of /var/www/html/web/modules/contrib/notification_system/modules/notification_system_dispatch/src/Service/NotificationDispatcherService.php)
Looking into the code, I went to /admin/structure/notification-group/mapping and manually saved the configuration, after which there were no longer any issues.
