CivicTheme’s media image template just has: {% include '@molecules/figure/figure.twig' %}
And that Figure.twig file includes the element and then the {% include '@atoms/image/image.twig' %} which just includes the <img> tag.
So nowhere in there does it allow for any Image Styles, or even Responsive Image Styles.
Create a responsive image style and try to apply this style to an image field. Notice the final image does not take the responsive image styles.
