The module seems to work only with taxonomy terms for the forum pages, like the check
elseif ($entity->getEntityTypeId() == 'taxonomy_term') {
The problem is that the forum pages are not entity based, like in paths "forum/" and the forum subscription buttons do not appear.
Just create a forum on a Drupal 10 website. Set up the forums and visit them by using the forum/* urls.
