I work with Drupal 13 years already and I know the user interface quite well but I am not a PHP programmer and I am also not a website desinger or a CSS genious or a themer, rather, I am just a website builder.
I normally work core only; Drupal core is generally enough for me, no contrib modules or contrib themes required.
I find core Olivero quite hard to customize from a sub theme and would like to try to customize a much simpler core starter theme from a sub theme instead, but this entire domain of core starter themes is quite messy:
In /admin/appearance Stark appears as the "main" core starter theme but I get from community discussions that it really isn't and the "hidden" Classy is really the king of core starter themes, but then there is also the hidden Stable core starter theme.
This mess is quite hard for me as someone who just want something simple and straightforward to work with.
If Stark is no longer the main core starter theme to sub, and also not Stable, please just remove them and put in /admin/appearance the one and only core starter theme that you as core maintainers recommend.
That would be Classy, I guess.
I believe that setting just one and only core starter theme is crucial to make Drupal more accessible to website builders and just more easy to operate and customize in general.

Stark is not a starter theme at all, it is very intentionally the most minimal a theme can be while still being a theme.
Starter themes are created using the appropriately-named Starterkit Theme → and is effectively the replacement for Classy.
