No, $result->allowRowCount = TRUE; was simply removed, that is not enough. See https://www.drupal.org/node/3186368 → .

Furthermore, the line indentation was changed for no apparent reason, violating the PHPCS and making the MR even harder to read. I can not give any credit here.

Not as easy to fix, as I thought... prepareStatements seems to differ from query.
