Adding moderation state field results in an error

Problem/Motivation

When you select the moderation state fields on an entity type to be searched, the search operation fails with this error:

Drupal\Core\Entity\Query\QueryException: 'moderation_state' not found in Drupal\Core\Entity\Query\Sql\Tables->ensureEntityTable() (line 369 of /var/www/html/web/core/lib/Drupal/Core/Entity/Query/Sql/Tables.php).
