Support alternative editing interfaces (Acquia Site Studio, Gutenberg, etc)

So, there is an anticipated push and commitment to the Gutenberg module.

This is more than that - there should be a way to support alternative means of editing than traditional Drupal. Acquia Site Studios page builder also does not prevent editing a locked entity.

I believe the code just targets :input fields right now. What does gutenberg use?
