My account currently doesn't have access to update this issue but I'd like to get this progressed. Custom Permissions is an important component that we use on GovCMS sites and additional maintainers and the ability to progress this module would be great :)

One of the contactable current maintainers is still around, along with a long absent owner. We need to hear their opinions about this. I've sent both a PM asking for them to comment here.

Definitely not trying to delay people taking on maintainer work, sorry all!

Heck i'd ask that an admin simply add the comaintainer when the request is this obviously a good thing, but i do respect the policy of going through the process, giving current maintainers a chance to have a say.
