Problem/Motivation

At the moment it is challenging for less technical users, first to grasp the gist of a module, then ideally set up a local testing environment, and in the end to install, correctly configure and test the module with actual content. Most of these steps are covered by Project Browser now. The user is able to install a module on dev/staging/live sites as well as in local testing environments and then add install a module within Project Browser. Only the last aforementioned step about configuring and testing, enabling the user to easily understand the purpose of a module, is still tough since most of the modules require certain settings and actual content. Without that the user has a hard time really understanding the inner workings of a module and understanding its advantages.

The idea is the following would it be possible and feasible to provide the ability to module maintainers to create default content ( with for example https://www.drupal.org/project/default_content β†’ ) and add that default content to a Drupalpod instance. That instance might be directly linked and reached via a button on the single project page. that way module maintainers would be able to provide a sandbox for users to test drive the module in a controlled environment. it might be easier to understand the capabilities of a module that way?

The idea was brought up during the Site Builders Subcommittees meeting on the 2023-02-23 on Zoom. For reference the attendees were @bsnodgrass, @chrisfromredfin, @jjcs227, @leslig, @lostcarpark, and @rkoller.
