This works to fix the mentioned error
[error] Error: Call to undefined function Drupal\config_distro\Drush\drush_shell_exec() in Drupal\config_distro\Drush\ConfigDistroCommands->distroUpdate() (line 298 of /app/web/modules/contrib/config_distro/src/Drush/ConfigDistroCommands.php) #0 [internal function]: Drupal\config_distro\Drush\ConfigDistroCommands->distroUpdate(Array)Tested this with Drush version : 12.5.2.0
The proposed change in MR !14 successfully resolved the error in my testing. Diffs are now generated with
drush cd-update --preview=diff-
