Some field-related actions provide a textfield for specifying the machine name of a field. Users who may not know the exact machine name of the field they want to use may then need to navigate to the content type configuration (or other entity type config) and look up there, which may be not ideal UX.
Use autocomplete suggestions on the field name input.
