@nubeli, I created new fork here https://git.drupalcode.org/issue/backdrop_upgrade_status-3314228 to make it easier to test for me and anyone else who will be testing. I will ask for help testing tomorrow during session https://backdropcms.org/news/events/drupal-7-to-backdrop-cms-upgrade and report results.

Entity reference has been added as a core module :)
