Status message close can create gap on the status message

I reproduced the issue in error messages, there was an extra gap after the message due to position of ".status-message-close".
I applied the patch and issue is resolved.

Patch #2 increased the opacity on hover, making the "x" even lighter. This preserves the original intent, making it darker on hover.

Automatically closed - issue fixed for 2 weeks with no activity.
