Accessibility: Make slideshows accessible

Created on 28 September 2022, about 2 years ago
Updated 17 April 2024, 8 months ago

Problem/Motivation

  1. Switch over the slideshow plugin to use splide.js
  2. Skip link is present (visually hidden that says “skip slideshow”) right before the slideshow to skip to the next element on the page
  3. Loop images in the slider, do not “bounce back” to the first image
  4. Test for full keyboard support
  5. Review slider provided a11y: a11y splide
  6. Verify aria controls provided by JS library
  7. aria-label is on both arrow keys for Previous & Next slides
