I'm not actually sure it would make sense to make the 1.x branch compatible with Drupal 10. The branch still needs to be compatible with Drupal 8 and 9, and as mentioned in 🐛 Conflicting core_version_requirement and core definitions Fixed compatibility with later versions of Drupal 9 requires removing the "core" definition in the .info.yml.
It would probably make more sense to leave 1.x to be compatible for 8 and 9, and address 10 in the 2.x branch.
I'm going to switch the version, and leave removing the "core" definition to the related ticket.
