Custom configuration forms for multidomain sites

I am using drupal version 9.3.15 and building mulidomain site using domain access module 8.x-1.0-beta6. I need to build 16 custom administrative pages for domains. Which option is better , saving data in database and perform CRUD operations or building configform and using get and set?
For drupal 7 we used variable_get and variable_set for each domain data.
Can someone please guide.

Hi @agentrickard They are coming from custom code.
Site is having performance issue.I don't know if it is from server end or due to multidomain architecture.
Do config forms has any performance hit ?

Basically site is getting down once lots of user visits.

Reviewing for 📌 Documentation for 2.0.x Active ...

Has this issue been resolved? Can you duplicate after updating to the 2.0.0-beta1 release?

Per the project description, "The 2.0.0-beta1 release is a code-only update from 8.x-1.0-beta8. Upgrading should only require a cache clear. The 8.x-1.x branch is now deprecated and will receive no new commits or releases."
