I am not sure who to credit for doing it, but I think we can close this issue.
People still post Events on groups.drupal.org instead of posting on the Community Events section of drupal.org.
Add a banner to the top of groups.drupal.org that advises people to post their events on the Community Events page. The banner should like both to the Community Events page ( https://www.drupal.org/community/events → ) and the page about adding an event ( https://www.drupal.org/community/events/adding-events → )
