Add submodule to rename bundles

Thank you very much for this wonderful module providing very helpful functionality when you have to switch entities from one bundle to another. In many cases the reason for switching entities over is that a bundle machine name has to be changed. Drupal doesn't allow this anymore, see #2172843: Remove ability to update entity bundle machine names β†’

As this module already allows to move entities from one bundle to another, it would be cool to extend it by an on-top functionality to rename bundle machine names (which includes to "move over" their fields, which this module solves).

In contrast to create a new bundle and convert

Being able to do that in combination for a bundle would be a really powerful tool. What do you think?

Could this not be already solved by creating a new bundle with wanted naming and than convert from old to new bundle?

  • Agreed. Just create a new bundle.

Thank you both for your reply on this! Sounds legit. No idea why I didn't come to that conclusion or didn't at least point out the difference I expect here.

I don't remember if I meant a UI action which includes

    1. renaming the bundle (incl. machine name)
    2. moving over all the fields
    3. moving over all the existing entities

in one step. Even though this might be quite helpful in cases like written above, it might be hard to solve?
