Update from 1.0.0 to 2.x (1013cfc) runs forever and watchdog shows error

Problem/Motivation

Updating a multilingual page from layout_paragraphs 1.0.0 to latest 2.0.x-dev (1013cfc) as of 2022-01-26 runs forever:
