Yes, this is not supported currently, matching conditions for deletion rules should be changed in ConfigSplitIgnoreFilter.php to support wildcards.
I want to remove all the fields from page content type hence I used '!field.field.node.page.field_*' but it doesn't work, while config with full field name works, for example'!field.field.node.page.field_tags'.
