I am also a touring cyclist like you, and I found your bike page. I agree: Schwalbe Marathon is the tire for longer trips, and hardly ever punctures. I use their Marathon Plus 700x32C, which has just the right blend of great comfort and low rolling resistance. With 28C's, bumps in the road are felt too much. I tried Marathon Plus Tour, but they are too bulky.
