Create a shared codebase/theme for localized Drupal sites (commercial or non-commercial)

Problem/Motivation

Drupal's reputation depends very much on the first impression it gives. For evaluators outside of the United States, there is a strong chance that this impression will be based on a local association website.

These local association websites are all over the place in terms of maintenance status, Drupal version, and overall quality.

Proposed resolution

To support a more unified brand experience and a better first impression across regions, it would be valuable to create a shared Drupal 9 codebase and theme that all local associations could use.

Remaining tasks

Identify what existing resources we could start from (existing association sites, d.o materials, splash award sites, etc)

  • Brainstorm the scope of features
  • Recruit contributors
  • Build it
  • Give it a central place to live on D.O
  • Get the word out.
