I have faced same issue in Drupal 10 and fontawesome 8.x-2.26.
Installed this module https://www.drupal.org/project/font_awesome → and it resolved the error.
The following warning message is displayed when the library is not installed correctly.
The fontIconPicker library could not be found. Please verify that fontIconPicker is installed correctly. Please see the Font Awesome IconPicker module README file for more details.
After experimenting with various icon picker methods, including a different module Font Awesome fields → , it took me a little while to realize what README file this was referring to, which is the submodule. Perhaps a suggestion would be to change the message to the following:
The fontIconPicker library could not be found. Please verify that fontIconPicker is installed correctly. Please see the README file in the Font Awesome IconPicker submodule for more details.
