It's likely this issue predates Contrib.social: some issue and comment data are missing.
8.x-3.x is outdated, it's unproductive to spend time on it. MR needs to be reworked for 4.x.
dpi's point of us taking a look at his work on 3.x before he ports this to 4.x is fair enough. I'll try and find some time.
