Presently we don't have any information to help authors make good alt text.
There are great resources like

And we definitely don't need something this long, but it would be useful to give users something more they can go with.

On selecting the question mark (or perhaps a tab) then a dialog would open up with a paragraph or two of reminders about how to write good alt text.
- Determine if there is a better way to expose help
- Create a mockup
- Write the code & tests
- Test the code for accessibility
