File Browser 2.0 - Looking for feedback

Hi everybody that's reading this!

File Browser is my most popular module, and surprisingly the one that I spend the least amount of time on. It started as a demo of Entity Browser, then I worked it to be as functional and nice looking as I wanted and have been maintaining it since.

I've been thinking, since there are 21k+ users, what would all these people want to see in a 2.x version?

My idea right now is to make a new version from the ground up, not using Entity Browser, that has the best UX I can make happen. Entity Browser, Entity Embed, and DropzoneJS are great, but starting from scratch could lead to a more streamlined experience. If I did this any ability to edit File Browser's look and feel would be much harder.

Alternatively, I could just re-work the current UX, remove masonry/imagesloaded as dependencies, and create an admin UI for files. This would be much easier, but maybe less interesting. What do you all think?

How about a way to upload files and then process them through a configurable pipeline like ECA.

With this and other modules I can bulk upload files or media to a field, editor, or media library.

I have a use case where I need to bulk upload files, and then create content that references each one in a field.

Simple Media Bulk Upload is close, after uploading, you see each media edit form. I want that for content.

Currently, I'm attempting to upload the bulk files to a content type, and then process them from there.

I'm thinking a view with editable fields would be a nicer interface.

Have other projects made improvements in this space since you worked on 2.x?

Closing this as outdated as we've released 2.0 in order to keep the module up to date with Drupal 10 and 11 changes without breaking backwards compatibility for those on earlier versions of Drupal. Please open a new issue with ideas for 2.x if you have any with the catehory of Feature Request.
