Required crop types not being recognized

I've configured the crop types as required in the widget setting.
And after uploading an image, I see the crop types have the red asterisk marking them as required.
But I can still "Save and select" or "Save and insert" the image even if I didn't even set any crop areas on the image.

It would be expected that the form save would be prevented until i set a crop area.
