Tag and publish a (Alpha, beta, RC or stable) release for the D8 version

Problem/Motivation

It is a good practice to only depend on stable (or at least tagged) dependencies, especially when using a dependency manager like composer. While this module most of the time will be a develop dependency, there still are several benefits of having a tagged release.

  • No surprises when running composer update (packages are only updated for new tagged releases)
  • packages.drupal.org will provide a dist version: faster downloads
  • ...

I am not really sure if the current codebase is alpha, beta or stable material, but an alpha release is definitly reasonable. We are using this module for several years now.

Proposed resolution

Publish a tagged (alpha) release for the current Drupal 8 version.
