Implement non-purchasable products/variations

Problem/motivation
Some manufacturers don't want their products to be sold online (for various reasons, including pricing disputes, MAP policy compliance, etc.). Nevertheless, the business would like to ensure customers can see the potential in-store items available when browsing the catalog / product displays. There is no known provision to allow products to show in the catalog / product display pages without a price.

Proposed solution
Drupal Commerce should be extended to allow store administrators to mark variations as purchasable which would allow pricing to be displayed and add-to-cart form to show. The default state should be TRUE.

    We have the availability manager for determining whether a purchasable entity is available for purchase, adding a boolean is an approach that doesn't cover a lot of different usecases and is probably too "simple".

    This can easily be solved in a contrib module.

    +1 on this!
    This feature would be so helpful!
    For book stores, for example, it would be great being able to reference paid product variations (e.g. printed books) as well as free variations (e.g. open access books for direkt download w/o checkout) from the same product display. Waiting ages for such a feature!
