Allow the Link Formatter to remove the protocol from the Text Link

Hi,
When you have a link field in Drupal which is URL only or when the Title is not filled, it would be great to be able to hide the protocol when displaying it with the Link Formatter.
For example:
https://www.mozilla.org --> www.mozilla.org

I just created a patch in order to remove the protocol from the Url text. This patch add an option in the Link Formatter to do that.

This is a start because I suppose it will affect all the config using that formatter in Drupal.

Thank you for sharing your idea for improving Drupal.

We are working to decide if this proposal meets the Criteria for evaluating proposed changes. There hasn't been any discussion here for over 3 years which suggests there is no community support. Your thoughts on this will allow a decision to be made.

Since we need more information to move forward with this issue, the status is now Postponed (maintainer needs more info). If we don't receive additional information to help with the issue, it may be closed after three months.
