Erratic table format field configuration

Set up a master view in table format with a number of fields
Make a page display of this
Make another page display but now change the fields some still the same as the master
Change the field settings in one of the pages and see how these setting influences the field settings in the other page, even when they might have totally different fields. Some of it is erratic behaviour difficult to get your head around.
It is expected behaviour that the table format is maintained in each new display instance created (For: All displays)
What imho is not expected behaviour is that the table settings are under all circumstances also considered "For: All displays". Especially the fields in a table settings are making it a mixed pot. The fields can contradict the Format's "For: All displays", because the fields can independently be in "For: This page" mode.
What I would expect with the present UI is that table settings follow the Fields "For:" mode not the Format's "For:" mode. This would keep the fields and their table settings together, because they belong together.

Work around is to set the Format Table to "For: This page". From then on table format settings become totally independent from master.

Yes, this is messy. The underlying problem is #2917814: Views table style info never gets updated when changing/adding fields → so going to close this as a duplicate of that. If you feel this is talking about a different issue, please feel free to reopen this.
