The user cannot disable the node notifications if it loses permission to create nodes.

Problem/Motivation

If a user has permission to create content, enables the "Receive content follow-up notification e-mails" option and then later that permission is revoked, the user will no longer see the "Receive content follow-up notification e-mails" checkbox on pages with commenting enabled.

This can be resolved by saving the user's profile page.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Given the users have the permissions to create content
  2. A user select the option Receive content follow-up notification e-mails
  3. Remove the permissions to create content
  4. The user won't be able to see the Receive content follow-up notification e-mails checkbox
  5. It will continue receiving notifications whenever a comment is written in his previously created content
  6. The user cannot turn off the notifications because the option is not there because he cannot create new content.

Proposed resolution

Continue displaying the "Receive content follow-up notification e-mails" checkbox on a user's profile page after they've lost the permission to create content so that they can choose to stop receiving notification e-mails on content they've authored.

    I think the best resolution to this would be to continue displaying the "Receive content follow-up notification e-mails" checkbox on the user's profile settings page, even after they've lost permission to create new content. They might want to continue receiving notifications for the content they did author.

    Since the notification setting is removed if the user's profile is saved, after they've lost the content creation permission, it could be confusing to them as to why they're no longer being notified of new comments on content they authored.
