Illegal choice resp. no matching entity when switching views exposed filter widget

In views, using an exposed filter on a taxonomy field (TaxonomyTidIndex), switching between autocomplete and dropdown widgets leads to error messages in the Preview browser, obviously because one widget's catchall value "- Any -" (for select) resp. "" (empty string for autocomplete) remains set and is invalid in the other widget.

  • An illegal choice has been detected. Please contact the site administrator. when switching from autocomplete to dropdown the first time.
  • There are no entities matching "All". everytime when switching from dropdown to autocomplete.

I hit the bug with a non-required, multiple-value filter and no particular default value set, but had similar error messages with other combinations. See also the enclosed screencast that goes back and forth a few times.

I still see this happening, but it's not blocking anything as far as I can tell, only throwing some errors on the Preview. Once you save the View, everything is fine (until you switch between types again).
